### Alternative Implementation with Subcircuit and Lumped Model
In the previous example, the S-parameter files were inserted directly using an S-parameter component in Qucs. While this is simple, it can sometimes lead to simulation convergence problems, especially for wideband or high-order EM data. An alternative and more stable approach is to replace the raw S-parameter block with a fitted lumped SPICE model generated from the same data.
This method uses vector fitting to approximate the S-parameter response with a rational transfer function and exports the result as a SPICE subcircuit. The fitted model has no fixed topology and is well suited for broadband simulation.
Vector fitting is performed with the **scikit-rf** Python library:

#### Running the Vector Fit Script
The script requires:
- The input S-parameter file (`.sNp`)
- The number of poles used in the fit (controls model complexity and accuracy)
Example:

python3 vectorfit_sparam.py ../../em_components/core_1/openems/output/run_core_50ghz_mpa_data/run_core_50ghz_mpa.s4p 5
```
Notes:
- The last argument (`5` in this example) is the number of poles.
- Higher pole count increases model accuracy but also model order and simulation cost.
- The script generates comparison plots between original and fitted data (shown for ports 1 and 2).
- The method supports any number of ports, even though only the first two are plotted.
- The output is a SPICE netlist file (`*.sp`) written to the same directory as the input file.
This generated SPICE file will be used as a subcircuit in Qucs.

### Using the Fitted SPICE Model as a Subcircuit in Qucs
1. **Create a new schematic**
Create and save a new schematic that will serve as the subcircuit block.
2. **Insert SPICE netlist block**
- Go to: `Components → File Components`
- Place a **SPICE netlist** component.
- Double-click to open its properties.
- Assign a part name.
- In the *File* field, browse to the generated `.sp` file.
In the next part of the module, you will find a layout for a **T-connector**, where you can explore its implementation and simulation. This part presented some challenges because **Xyce** had difficulty defining the DC operating points. As seen in the schematic, the solution was to place extremely large resistors on ports 1 and 2 to set proper biasing for the simulator:

3. **Assign SPICE nodes**
- In the SPICE net nodes section, use **Add >>** to include all nodes.
- Confirm with OK.
4. **Add subcircuit ports**
- Go to: `Components → Lumped Components`
- Place a **Subcircuit Port** for each SPICE node.
- Connect each port to the corresponding node of the SPICE block.
- Edit each port to set meaningful names and correct pin numbers.
5. **Reference node**
- A reference (Ref) port is also created.
- Connect this port to ground.

6. **Create the custom symbol**
- Open: `File → Edit Circuit Symbol`
- Draw the symbol outline and place pins as desired.
- Save the symbol.

The scikit-rf fitting script generates SPICE subcircuits with the default name:
