Geza Lore 348b9b6209 Internals: Make the constant pool a regular package (#8512)
The constant pool is now an ordinary package, created with the netlist
and instantiated under $root like any other package, and most special
handling has been removed, including AstConstPool. Lookups go through
V3ConstPool, which has a singleton instance owned by V3Global. Static
methods on V3Common form the public interfce to add/find constant pool
entries.

With that, the constant pool is usable at any stage during compilation,
so enum and dimension tables created by V3Width, and enum value tables
created by V3Randomize now also live in the constant pool instead of
$unit, so identical tables are shared.

Associative array constants are handled separately from unpacked
tables, which used to be broken but unused.

Emitted constant pool variables use direct initialization, and
`constinit` with C++20 where the type allows it. This ensures we don't
change a run-time in a way that would result in unintended code size
increase.

-fno-merge-const-pool, which was introduced years ago but never prompted
a bug report is deprecated and has no effect.

This is also prep for future work.

Geza Lore d3f608058f Optimize expanded constant pool words (#6979)
Re-inline ConstPool entries in V3Subst that have been expanded into
word-wise accessed by V3Expand. This enables downstream constant folding
on the word-wise expressions.

As V3Subst now understands ConstPool entries, we can also omit expanding
straight assignments with a ConstPool entry on the RHS. This allows the
C++ compiler to see the memcpy directly.

Geza Lore cea4c88e12 Optimize more wide operation temporaries with substitution (#6972)
A temporary introduced by V3Premit could not be eliminated in V3Subst if
it was involved in an expression that did a write back to a
non-temporary. To enables removing these, we need to track all variables
in V3Subst, not just the ones we would consider for elimination. Note
the new implementation is marginally faster than the old one even though
it does more work. It can eliminate ~5% more of wide temporaries on some
designs. Algorithm is largely the same.

Geza Lore cf275b6e58 Internals: Refactor text based Ast constructs (#6280) (#6571)
Remove the large variety of ways raw "text" is represented in the Ast.
Particularly, the only thing that represents a string to be emitted in
the output is AstText.

There are 5 AstNodes that can contain AstText, and V3Emit will throw an
error if an AstText is encountered anywhere else:
- AstCStmt: Internally generated procedural statements involving raw
  text.
- AstCStmtUser: This is the old AstUCStmt, renamed so it sorts next to
AstCStmt, as it's largely equivalent. We should never create this
internally unless used to represent user input. It is used for $c,
statements in the input, and for some 'systemc_* blocks.
- AstCExpr: Internally generaged expression involving raw text.
- AstCExprUser: This is the old AstUCFunc, renamed so it sorts next to
AstCExpr. It is largely equivalent, but also has more optimizations
disabled. This should never be created internally, it is only used for
  $c expressions in the input.
- AstTextBlock: Use by V3ProtectLib only, to generate the hierarchical
  wrappers.

Text "tracking" for indentation is always on for AstCStmt, AstCExpr, and
AstTextBlock, as these are always generated by us, and should always be
well formed.

Tracking is always off for AstCStmtUser and AstCExprUser, as these
contain arbitrary user input that might not be safe to parse for
indentation.

Remove subsequently redundant AstNodeSimpleText and AstNodeText types.

This patch also fixes incorrect indentation in emitted waveform tracing
functions, and makes the output more readable for hier block SV stubs.

With that, all raw text nodes are handled as a proper AstNodeStmt or
AstNodeExpr as required for #6280.

Geza Lore 2daa09a255 Optimize constify within Expand and Subst (#6111)
These passes blow up the Ast size on some designs, so delaying running V3Const
until after the whole pass can notably increase peak memory usage. In this
patch we apply V3Const per CFunc within these passes, which saves on memory.
Added -fno-const-eager to disable the intra-pass V3Const application, for
debugging.

Geza Lore 47588f343b astgen: Enforce the use of aliased operand accessors (#4688)
This patch enforces the use of the most specific accessors for operands
which have an '@astgen alias' declaration, by making the superclass
accessors of the same operands private. This ensures client code is
cleaner as you can't use multiple different methods to reference the
same operands (which we used to in some places). Also prep for some
refactoring.

Geza Lore 1c0af6c7bc Reduce peak memory use of V3Subst (#4687)
V3Subst is currently the pass responsible for peak memory usage. This
patch saves ~16% of peak memory on OpenTitan.

2 changes:
- It is actually safe to delete the substituted expressions immediately,
but this is the lesser contribution
- More importantly, we only ever substitute STMTTEMP variables, which
are always defined within the same CFunc, so we can limit the scope of
the optimization to CFunc. This allows us to reclaim the SubstVarEntry
structures at the end of every CFunc, rather than at the end of the
whole pass, which gives us most of the memory savings.

Generated output is identical

- Rename `--dump-treei` option to `--dumpi-tree`, which itself is now a
special case of `--dumpi-<tag>` where tag can be a magic word, or a
  filename
- Control dumping via static `dump*()` functions, analogous to `debug()`
- Make dumping independent of the value of `debug()` (so dumping always
works even without the debug flag)
- Add separate `--dumpi-graph` for dumping V3Graphs, which is again a
  special case of `--dumpi-<tag>`
- Alias `--dump-<tag>` to `--dumpi-<tag> 3` as before
