All functions that received a ClientData (or FindRegion *) parameter in
commit fc21472e solely to satisfy WASM call_indirect signature matching
are now annotated so static analysers and casual readers can see the
intent has been verified:
/*ARGSUSED*/ before each such function definition
/* UNUSED */ on each unused parameter in the definition
/* UNUSED */ on matching forward declarations
Affected: calmaWriteInitFunc, cifWriteInitFunc, cmdWindSet,
dbStampFunc, dbwElementAlways1, dbwfbWindFunc, DBWHLRedrawWind,
spcnodeHierVisit, extSDTileFunc, extTransPerimFunc,
extAnnularTileFunc, extResistorTileFunc, extDefInitFunc,
extTimesInitFunc.
WASM call_indirect enforces an exact type match between the caller
and the callee. Many Magic callbacks had K&R-style () forward
declarations and a single-argument definition, but were passed to
iterators that always push a trailing ClientData argument. Native
builds tolerated the mismatch via loose prototypes; WASM traps with
"indirect call signature mismatch".
Added the missing ClientData (or, where the concrete type is known,
FindRegion *) parameter to:
* calma/CalmaRead.c, calma/CalmaWrite.c, calma/CalmaWriteZ.c —
calmaWriteInitFunc
* cif/CIFwrite.c — cifWriteInitFunc
* commands/CmdSubrs.c — cmdWindSet
* database/DBtimestmp.c — dbStampFunc
* dbwind/DBWelement.c — dbwElementAlways1
* dbwind/DBWfdback.c — dbwfbWindFunc
* dbwind/DBWhlights.c — DBWHLRedrawWind
* ext2spice/ext2hier.c — spcnodeHierVisit
* extract/ExtBasic.c — extSDTileFunc, extTransPerimFunc,
extAnnularTileFunc, extResistorTileFunc
* extract/ExtMain.c — extDefInitFunc
* extract/ExtTimes.c — extTimesInitFunc
Also adjusted commands/CmdE.c and commands/CmdTZ.c: SelectExpand was
being called with four arguments (the legacy surroundFlag), but its
real signature has been three arguments for years (the surround mode
is encoded in the expandType bit). The fourth argument was redundant
(DB_EXPAND_SURROUND in arg 2 is the source of truth) and rejected by
WASM. Native behavior is unchanged.
The added parameters are unused in the function bodies; they exist
only to satisfy the indirect-call signature.
the extraction, especially for routines like ExtFindNeighbors where
it was previously not handled at all. A new method was introduced
in which split tiles with neither side TT_SPACE will get an extra
allocated structure that contains pointers to two regions representing
the nodes on the tile's left and right sides, independently. The fix
(as yet not fully tested) should resolve problems with extracting the
sky130 I/O cells, which contain a FET with 45 degree angles on the
gate, where a split tile is divided between the gate and the source or
drain, and therefore represents two different nodes. Also, there were
extraction errors related to incorrect handling of split tiles having
only one node, where a split tile became connected to the wrong node.
and forcing it to be passed as an argument to all the callback
functions for the search routines that require it. Magic now
compiles and runs with the new code, but there are a number of
known issues that need to be fixed up. Committing now so that
I can rebase on the last update to the master branch.

report it after "Failure to read in entire sub-tree". This will
not report every failing cell (since it quits reading after the
first failure) but will avoid the existing issue of printing
nothing and leaving the user with no feedback as to which cell
was the problem.
to stop the search whenever a cell is not found. Used this to implement
a new option for GDS writes, "gds undefined allow|disallow" (default
"disallow") controls whether or not GDS with undefined references will
be allowed to be written. Similarly affects CIF and LEF writes, extraction,
and DRC (when running "drc check" from the top).
to be more robust and not depend on the ordering of the devices in
the techfile. The extraction method now keeps a mask of which
properties of the device (source/drain types, substrate type,
identifier type) have been found, and will look only for device
records that match what is known about the device. Added a device
identifier record which is the last record before parameters if the
record begins with "+". This allows marker layers to be placed
over a device such that it will extract with a different type.
This helps reduce the complexity of the techfile and allows
certain specialized devices like RF or ESD to be identified without
a separate layer type for the device.
